And now I'm "The Baker"...
Date of Review: Sep 22, 2001
The Bottom Line: If you're seriously into baking, this stand mixer is well worth its price! If not, or you only bake small quantities, this may not be it for you.
I love my Kitchenaid. Really. Not only is is a good machine (see below) but it's bright red, and has sort of set the mood for the decor of my entire apartment!
I was once told a story of a woman who owned her grandmother's Kitchenaid stand mixer from the 1920s -- and it was still in perfectly good working order! Although I've only had mine for about half a year, I can tell it will be a trust-worthy kitchen companion. It is very well built, and I can't really see any problem areas when it comes to long-term use.
The mixers works great on breads (that dough hook saved my little hands!) and on large batches -- the bowl is plenty big enough for my baking needs.
Actually, that's where my only complaint is. I used to mainly bake single-layer cakes, smaller batches of cookies, brownies, etc. And I found that the mixer did not reach my dough well enough, and I had to constantly stop it to scrape off the bottom and the sides.
So to solve the problem, I've just starting baking in large quantities! Because my husband and I can't possibly eat two double-layer cakes, or four dozen cookies... my neighbors, friends and co-workers are all enjoying my new baking hobby!
