I love this mixer!
Date of Review: Apr 7, 2000
My husband loves for me to cook, which is why we BOTH need to diet! One Christmas he bought me the KitchenAid mixer because he has seen me drool over them in my favorite cooking show series, "The Great Chefs". Ever since then, I've been able to make all sorts of things with the greatest of ease, and the best of results with this machine. Batters come out creamy, cookie dough doesn't have chunks of flour, mashed potatoes are fluffy and light, quiche mixes are well incorporated.
The motor is sturdy and reliable and its 10 speeds allow for just the right mixing speed for your recipe. I especially like the tilt up head because the restaurant quality KitchenAid has a drop down bowl instead, and it's much harder to use. My sister has one of those, and after using hers, I'm so glad I have the other! The paddles are really great; they are made of plastic over steel, so they won't rust.
The mixing motion of the KitchenAid is its crowning glory. The blade moves in a clockwise circle around the bowl, while it spins counterclockwise. This allows for its capability to mix ingredients thoroughly. I believe it is the only mixer to have this combination.
My mixer came with two bowls, a dough kneader, a whipping blade, and a regular paddle, a plastic cover for one of the bowls, and a plastic lip that fits around the bowl rim so you can pour ingredients in without spilling them. AND my husband got it on sale, so we got a great deal!
If you like to cook and be in the kitchen, I HIGHLY recommend this mixer. You'll love it and it will last forever!
