Author's Review
I purchased a Kitchenaid Proline 4-Slice Toaster when the toast from the old unit started looking the same color when toasted as it did when I put the bread in.
Taking the toaster out of the box, I was immediately pressed by how heavy the unit was. Most toasters today come with cheap plastic, but the body is quality metal.
The Kitchenaid Proline 4-Slice Toaster has four slots for toast, and each pair of slots has its own control, so you can put thick bread in the right side of the toaster, and thin bread in the left, and set each accordingly. In addition to this, each pair of slots has its own crumb tray. The darkness control has nine different levels of darkness.
Instead of the toast popping up when finished, it remains inside the toaster, and the toaster keeps it warm until the end of its 15 minute cycle. However, if you wish to remove the toast before that, it's suggested you switch off the unit. No worries, you don't need toast tongs, you can use the leaver to lift the toast when ready.
I did not find the slots too wide. About the same width as my previous 28-year-old toaster.
In addition to this, the Kitchenaid Proline 4-Slice Toaster comes with a 2-Year Warranty. There are also optional accessories: sandwich toaster insert and a bun warmer that rests on the top of the unit.
