I LOVE this thing!
Date of Review: Feb 24, 2009
The Bottom Line: If you're looking for a multi-purpose kitchen helper that takes up little space and is uber-easy to clean up, this desearves a second look... and a third, and a fourth...
When I buy an appliance-- small or large-- I do a lot of research, so when I ordered this, I knew I'd like it. I've been using it for a few months now, and I have to change my initial thoughts-- I LOVE THIS THING! I do a lot of cooking and previously had relied (on an almost daily basis) on my KitchenAid heavy-duty Mixer and my KitchenAid Food Processor.
I still have the food processor and the mixer, but they've been put into our "seldom used" cupboard; for two people, the little guy can really replace the bigger, bulkier appliances. And clean-up is so much simpler; I can usually just rinse off the pieces and put them on a towel to air-dry until the next time I need it. N-i-i-i-ce!
The chopper bowl and blade are remarkably sharp, and do all of my food processing work for me now. I use it to chop onions, peppers, celery, carrots, whatever needs chopping and used to get put into the bowl of my food processor. The whisk attachment works great for the numerous omelets, souffles and frittatas and the few cakes I make. And the blending attachment? The first time I used it, I was pureeing some veggies to go into a soup, and naively turned the dial to 8 (on a range of 1 to 9). This bad boy is so powerful, I thought I was going to wind up in the next room; Note to new users out there-- proceed s-l-o-w-l-y at first until you get used to this little guy, and use the beakers with the rubber bases when you start off. (Think of them as 'training wheels'...)
The Immersion Hand Blender and Chopper is 19 x 10.4 x 5.8 inches and weights 5.2 pounds. It comes with a whisk attachment, a chopper blade, attachment and bowl, an immersion blender attachment, and an extra beaker. It has a 200 watt motor, and an immersion depth of 8 inches.
In the few months I had it (I purchased this in September 2008), I've used it daily, and often several different times a day. It's still as sharp as it was, and I'm still as impressed as I was, on the day it arrived.
Highly recommend!
