Basement Jaxx is one of the few bands out today that actually know that making dance music is about much more than how fast you can make the crowd move. They use great variation in style and sound, and you are not left feeling bored or tedious after this album ends.
This album has a number of notable guest artists on it, including MeShell Ndege Ocello (Right Heres the Spot and Feels Like Home) JC Chasez of NSync (Plug It In), and however unlikely Siouixsie Sioux, of Siouxsie & the Banshees fame (Kish Kash).
Notable on this album is the closing track, Feels Like Home, which points to the atmosphere that MeShell used in Comfort Woman. Also very listenable is the wistful If I Ever Recover, with vocals by Felix; Kish Kash, for its thumping post-new wave drum pattern (go Siouxsie!); Hot N Colds bouncy pop feel; and Plug It In, for its strong dance pattern. Make no mistake about it - Kish Kash is a return to form for the whole music industry. Great for parties.
