This gate is the best.

Let me start by saying we've had two of these gates in place for over 2 years and still love them.

The hunt began when my son to be 3 year old was about 6 months old. We live in a 2 story cape and knew the importance of securing the stairway both at the top and bottom. Most permanently attached gates we found were either difficult to operate with one hand or did not appear sturdy enough to handle a toddler grabbing, shaking, standing or jumping on! While these are not recommended uses for a safety gate, experience with my nephews had shown me that this is what small boys will do if given the slightest opportunity.

This gate is the answer. Made of very sturdy tubular steel and designed to mount securely to the wall, this gate has withstood everything my oldest son has throw at it as well as me falling into it in a remarkable show of poise and grace! I am confident it will continue to provide excellent service for years to come now that mt second son is becoming mobile.

Mounting the gate can be a bit of a challenge, but if you measure and mark your mounting points twice (and then once more if you're slightly paranoid like me) installation should go rather smoothly. It can be done by one person, but it is helpful if you have another set of hands available.

This gate can be easily opened and closed by an adult with only one hand, but is very difficult for a toddler to open if mounted properly. Fortunately, my oldest is not concerned with opening the gate, just standing on it!

One added bonus to us is the styling. Our gates are white and blend rather well with the existing decor in our home. The slender steel tubing allows this gate to be very strong yet fairly unobtrusive in our home.
