Solid and easy to open gate

I purchased this gate more than four years ago and it is still in its place at the top of the stairs, as sturdy as when I put it in. This is a very high quality gate that has weathered many escape attempts by my son. The durability of this item is incredible. I have 2 kids who regularly put all their weight on it - it doesn't budge. The key element here I think is precise installation, which was fairly easy to do given the simple instructions. I did have to install it at an angle so that it would be anchored through the stud in the wall and the top wood railing piece. Once installed properly, the gate is very easy to open with just one hand, which is very important when you already have one hand holding your child. Also, the bars are spaced just right so that there isn't enough room for a head but my cat can come and go as she pleases. I wouldn't trust my kids' safety into any other gate installed on top of the stairs. I am very happy with it and recommend it to any new parents concerned with stairs safety.
