Kia Spectra5 A-OK

After learning that the Kia Spectra5 shares the same platform with the 2007 Hyundai Elantra, and knowing how good the prior Elantra was, I decided to check it out. The five-speed manual transmission is the best choice--snappy acceleration, smooth shifting. The Spectra5 has a sporty suspension, lots of features, and a great warranty. My first 250 mile trip up the mountain roads to Lake Arrowhead and Big Bear Lake, then down to Joshua Tree were spirited and satisfying. If I had to drive in L.A.'s bumper to bumper freeways, I guess I would forego the stick shift. But since I have a short commute, and most of my miles are for pleasure, the 5-speed is a hoot.
