Author's Review
I just bought and installed the Kenwood KDC-MP2032 car CD player from crutchfield.com. It is a great CD player, playing audio CD's as well as MP3 CD's. Kenwood makes a HD radio adaptor so this radio can play HD stations, as well as a Sirius satellite adaptor so you don't need to buy an additional satellite receiver, and finally an I Pod adaptor to play your I Pod through the CD player without a scratchy FM modulator.
The Kenwood is well laid out and has a ton of features. I have had it a week now and still haven't looked through all the possible menu's to see what else I can tweak. It comes with a remote, which I have never had on a car radio before. I've never particularly cared about a remote before, the radio is within arms reach after all... however, the remote is laid out very well, and I have found that it is easier to change the station, change the CD track, volume, etc using the remote, which I can bring into my line of vision rather then taking my eyes of the road and looking around on the radio. My vehicle has factory amplifiers, so my installation did not use Kenwood's internal amp, just the pre-outs. I cannot make any claims to how good the internal amp is, other then to say I have owned Kenwood's in the past and they are great powerful stereo's.
I bought this radio from cruthcfield.com for $140. That price included free shipping, free wiring harness for my vehicle, free mounting bracket for my vehicle, and DETAILED instructions for installation on my vehicle. If you are somewhat mechanically inclined, you can install a car radio. Compare that price to Best Buy or Circuit City. They charge more for the radio but give you "free" installation. The "free" installation doesn't include $15 or $20 for a wiring harness and another $20 or $30 for the mounting bracket, nor does it include a rental car for the day you are without your car waiting for it to be installed. But enough about Crutchfield.....
All in all it is a great radio, looks great, packed with a ton of features and great sound. Kenwood packed a lot of good features into this bargain priced cd player.
