Product Review

A powerful cooling unit.

by   iomag ,   Jul 25, 2003

Pros:  Timer option; 2-speed fan; lightweight

Cons:  Touch-sensitive controls a bit unresponsive

The Bottom Line:  Definitely a good value for the price and the cooling power it has. Both thumbs UP!

Overall Rating: 5/5 stars

Author's Review

I bought this online at sears.com for $150.00. It was relatively easy to install, and surprisingly light. It comes with a remote control, which I personally have no use for, but nonetheless - it has a remote - and the batteries are even included!
I think I last saw the remote fall behind the bed a month ago...
The controls available are fan-speed (low/hi), timer, energy-saver, mode(fan/cool), and temperature. The control pad, a touch-sensitive membrane, seems a tad insensitive to touch, but that's a minor inconvenience. If it bothers you, you can always use the remote control.

One weird thing about it is the drain plug. It's supposed to somehow fit on the back side to help drain the moisture accumulation, but honestly, I couldn't figure out how to get it in the metal hole on the back, so I just tossed it.

But most importantly, it cools and it cools WELL! Of course, I am only using it to cool a bedroom, but even on very hot AND humid days, it performs exceptionally. It is also somewhat quiet, especially on low speed.
