Author's Review
If you've run into any of my other reviews, they're all for higher-end equipment from Sony or Pioneer. But Sony's Subwoofers can't bark as loud for the same price as this little 120Watt wonder does. I was very sceptical when I saw the sale ad for it in the Best Buy flyer. But the first time I heard it THUMP, I was sold. You really can't beat the price. I've had this subwoofer for almost 3 years now and I'm only now THINKING about replacing it with a new subwoofer, and probably won't for another 2-3 years because I'm moving into a townhome. This Subwoofer handles a full LFE channel from a dts or dolby digital reciever and has full Frequency adjustments, auto on/off and volume controls. It also has phase modes for Normal and Reverse phase. The distortion I've noticed over the past few years only comes from my house's foundation, walls, and the entertainment center. This thing is solid as long as you have a dedicated Subwoofer Pre-out. Hooking it up through the speaker wires is a different story... if you do that, no one setup is ever perfect for everything.. if you're going to get a subwoofer, get a good receiver with a dedicated pre out for the sub, and a good corner to stash it in. Oh, and if you live in an apartment... good luck.
