Product Review

A good run, but...

by   sonork64 ,   Oct 13, 2005

Pros:  Bangs hard, rides semi long, cheap as hell

Cons:  Circuit boards almost catch fire near the end, not fully balanced..go with a 12

Overall Rating: 4/5 stars

Author's Review

I have just recently laid to rest the 2nd of my three beloved KLH's. The very first one I purchased at an electronics fair lasted only a few months. I then purchased another one from Best Buy and used my performance service plan to replace the first one. The recently deceased lasted a good 6-7 years and boomed all the way up until about 6 months ago when it started turning itself off under load. I suspected that the end was near and babied it as much as I could, but alas a consistent hum emanates from the unit now. Upon further investigation of the amp, a circuit board seems to have been cooking for a long time and finally gave way to short circuit. So basically: #1 sub died in 3 weeks by going silent, no autopsy performed - #2 sub was used for 2-3 years and was sold with longevity unverfiable - #3 sub rocked from 1999-2005 only to die from cronic sub hum. Make your decision to purchase with this 10 year review and decide if $120 every 3.33 years on average is o.k. for your sub allowance.
