Very nice set of Speakers
Date of Review: Dec 23, 2007
The Bottom Line: Get these for your home entertainment system. They just sound incredible and look great.
I am by no means an audio expert but just recently upgraded my home entertainment system with a Pioneer 60" Plasma, new Pioneer high end Pioneer Elite VSX-94TXH 7.1 A/V Receiver and I figured I should get good quality speakers. The KEF 3005 system is a 5.1 speaker system and it doesn't disappoint. I purchased two more satellites to make it a full 7.1 system and have to say the sound is amazing. I had intended to go with the Bose Acoustimass 16 system but read some reviews by others that indicated the Kef would outperform Bose. I have not owned Bose so cannot give real opinions on this bu I can say the KEF 3005 speakers not only sound great, but look very stylish as well. They are egg shaped and at first look a little weird but after looking at them for a little while they grow on you. In addition the Sub puts out impressive bass.
You can find the 3005 5.1 on the web or ebay for ~ $1,000. The additional 2 satellites will set you back between $350 to $500. So this puts it right in the same price range as the Bose Acoustimass 16 series. I highly recommend the KEF 3005 if not for the sound then for the unique look. Hey everyone has those little square Bose speakers these days.
