This is one awesome blender. You really can't call it a blender. I studied the reviews and considered really only two, the Vitamix and this one. The K-Tec Champ HP3 I bought was $325 and came with one blender jar. It can be used for wet or dry foods. I have made flour from grain, nut milk, salad dressing, chopped vegetables to a fine texture for salads.
The four cycles, speed cycle and the pulse buttons work fine for my needs, but there are 30 more preprogrammed cycles that can be used. I love the fact that there are no buttons to get slopped with food. It is so easy to wipe down and keep clean. Very simple to clean the jar...just a little water and a squirt of soap and run it on the pulse cycle for a short time does the job.
And talk about powerful. You will know what I mean the first time you use it. Very powerful and the speed is incredible. I like the fact that you don't need a special jar for dry ingredients.
The lid fits very tightly. I do rest my hand on the top when I'm running it on high speeds, just to be sure...as I don't know what it would take to blow it off. Might be fine without hold it but I like to be safe rather than sorry.
It is no problem at all to chop vegetables. Cauliflower, carrots and zuccini are the ones that I have tried.
I'm not a smoothie person so I have not tried that, but the dressings that I've made are like that consistency so I'm sure it would work very well for that.
I was wishing that the sides were curved so that using a spatula to get all the food out would be easier, but the way that it is designed does make it very easy to pour so that is a very small point for me. It does fit under my cupboards and I like that...not quite so imposing as the Vitamix would have been
I love this machine...I bonded with it after the very first use! I have no connection to this company. Just a very happy owner and wanted to make the decision making easier for people who are trying to decide between Vitamix and K-Tec. I can't speak to the Vitamix, but I'm very glad I decided to save a little money and choose this one.
