Juno - Putting the fun back into teen pregnancy

by   millinocket , top reviewer in Movies at Epinions.com ,  Jan 3, 2008
Pros: Performances, screenplay, score
Cons: None for me
The Bottom Line: Cute, charming, funny, touching. The bottom line is deeply satisfied with its viewing experience.
Review: Teen pregnancy isn’t funny. Believe me, I’m a parent and I’m tempted to get my daughter Norplant for her eleventh birthday – that’s how scary is the notion of my baby having a baby while she’s still a baby. Most of the time, ...

Juno is an Independent Film Triumph

by   shopaholic_man ,  Jan 5, 2008
Pros: Acting, direction, dialogue.
Cons: None
The Bottom Line: Great indie film with excellent acting.
Review: I go to the movies every week. Normally we have to go into Boston to see the good independent films, but Jason Reitman has directed an indie film so good that we got to see Juno at the local multiplex that usually only runs blockbusters. Not only that, ...

Juno - "It all started with a chair"

by   t13monkeys ,  Feb 19, 2008
Pros: Ellen Page, fantastic dialog, unique, nice soundtrack
Cons: none
The Bottom Line: Finally a fun and original comedy!
Review: I expected Juno to be another wacky Napoleon Dynamite meets Superbad comedy and I’m glad for once that I went against my pre-judgment and watched the bloody thing. It’s rather good and worthy of the Best Picture nomination it is getting by the ...

Napoleon Dynamite for Girls

by   bilavideo ,  Feb 11, 2008
Pros: sharp dialogue, great characters, a political minefield artfully crossed with grace
Cons: slow and plodding in places, funnier in the dialogue and performances than in the plot
The Bottom Line: Like Clerks a decade ago, this film's best stuff is in the dialogue and performances - which are classic.
Review: "Oh, you think you're hot sh#t 'cause you get to sit over there and play pictionary? Well guess what? My five year old daughter could do that and let me tell you, she's not the brightest bulb in the tanning bed. So until you have your own kid, ...

Juno Knocks Out Knocked Up for Best Film About Unexpected Pregnancy

by   bilbopooh ,  Feb 13, 2008
Pros: great cast and script, sweet and funny
Cons: some crudeness
The Bottom Line: Juno is a happy movie. We need a few more of those!
Review: My exercise in Oscar awareness has proved to be enormously successful this year. The latest addition to my list of noteworthy films is Juno, which leaves me with only one of this year's Best Picture nominees yet to see. I can't claim to be too ...

Yeah, I'm a Legend. You Know, They Call Me the Cautionary Whale...

by   thevoid99 , top reviewer in Movies at Epinions.com ,  Dec 30, 2007
Pros: Reitman's Direction, Cody's Script, Look, Humor, Locations, Music, & Cast.
Cons: None.
The Bottom Line: Juno is a Funny, Witty, & Heartfelt Masterpiece from Jason Reitman & Screenwriter Diablo Cody with a Brilliant Performance from Ellen Page.
Review: With films about high school often trying to portray high school as something enjoyable to a young audience, most notably the High School Musical franchise. There are still those who often felt that high school was a dreadful and awkward ...

Juno is an unlikely but very likable heroine

by   mjtriplett ,  Dec 26, 2007
Pros: the entire cast, storyline, comedy, minimal drama
Cons: Absolutely NONE!
The Bottom Line: Run out and see Juno while you have the chance!
Review: Living in toddlerville means less time to visit the theater. So, when my husband and I see a movie, it is imperative that we choose a good one. We treated ourselves to Juno this past holiday weekend and I’m happy to report that it far exceeded ...

Teen-o "Baby Mama" Juno

by   sj1and0 ,  May 3, 2008
Pros: Good acting, great storyline
Cons: Mark's attitude
The Bottom Line: The storyline, actors and musical sequences behind the scenes made Juno to be a great movie.
Review: Teen pregnancy is an ongoing problem. About 80 percent of all teenage pregnancies are unintended. Kids have sex irresponsibly and end up having to deal with the consequence of being forced to take care of a baby while a baby. In a 2005 poll taken by ...

Juno you're in for a good flick

by   goodfellamike ,  Jan 9, 2008
Pros: Between the writing, directing and performances, I would be hard-pressed to rave any higher.
Cons: There isn't a false note in this perfect little movie.
The Bottom Line: In a movie world where everything feels so calculated, this little gem speaks its own mind.
Review: There is a certain awkwardness inspired by the title character of director Jason Reitman's latest homespun comedy that has never quite been captured as perfectly in films until now. She may seem like a character, but by the end of the film, you will ...

Queen Juno

by   whaler66 ,  Dec 24, 2007
Pros: A smart, refreshing film. Terrific performances, terrific screenplay.
Cons: NONE!!!!!
The Bottom Line: A smart and refreshing film. Honest and true, with a gutsy screenplay to boot.
Review: My pal and I have gone back and forth on the issue of independent films. He thinks that I think that indie films are flawless by nature. Not so, I'm fully aware that not all indie films are great. Every once in awhile though, the indie world ...
