Author's Review
We love the kelty line of backpacks. We have one from 3 years ago we purchased for our first child, and we just bought this one for our second child. We love hiking and taking walks and our kids love to be outside. As soon as we bought this we put our 7 month old son in it and finished our shopping. He loved it. We used it the rest of the weekend and he never fussed, and believe me that is amazing.
This one has a new seat design, more like a sling than the older version. Which I actually like better. It is easier on the legs. Our daughter was much smaller and the old design is perfect for her, but our son is very big, 21 lbs at 7 months, so this new sling support works better for him. The straps don't cut into his shoulders, he has lots of room to move his legs and arms. It must be comfortable, my 3 year old still loves to be in it. She would sit in it to watch movies if we let her.
The backpack attached to the back is the perfect size for diapers, snacks, etc. Really comes in handy. There is no real easy way to get it on and off with the child in it, but that isn't a complaint. Once on and adjusted this pack is very comfortable even on the longest walks. It sits nicely on the hips, and there are several different adjustments that make it work between me (5'5) and my husband (6'). The strap across the chest makes a big difference when buckled. There isn't anything I don't love about this. I will say this, although it was fine to use while shopping, it is a bit bulky to maneuver in a small store. It sits high up and with the frame it is a bit tricky to use for this purpose. We prefer the hip carrier for shopping, but this is perfect for walks and hikes and even outdoor events. You won't be disappointed in this product, or any of the Kelty backpacks.
