My Acuvue for Astigmatism horror story.
Date of Review: Apr 18, 2008
The Bottom Line: Do NOT recommend. Irritable, uncomfortable.
I decided to try out contact lenses due to disliking my glasses. I was prescribed Acuvue ADVANCED with Astigmatism for my astigmatic right eye. I had no trouble with putting regular contact lenses in my astigmatic eye before, so I figured these would be twenty times easier. How wrong I was. If I knew this ordeal was going to happen I would never have asked the doctor for these.
When I got the contacts it took me about half an hour at least to stick them into my eye. They kept gluing themselves to my finger repeatedly, so I had to use a combination of two fingers (thumb and index, don't try it at home) to finally get the contact in. By the time it was in, it irritated my eye and I had to wait a minute or two until the burning sensation went away. I am not a newbie when it comes to putting contact lenses in either as that I could put my other contacts in just fine with just my index finger.
The contact was far from comfortable when it came to wear. I could feel it pretty clearly when it was there and I just wound up taking it out and avoiding wearing the contacts at all due to all the hassle.
In the end, I called Johnson&Johnson and wound up getting a refund. I do not recommend these at all. If anything, just stick with a regular contact lens when it comes to astigmatism or expect to waste $60 on a box of headaches.
