Hoy Moly, the holy Grail of affordable subs!!
Date of Review: Oct 9, 2008
The Bottom Line: W7's little brother that isn't so little, GR8 sound and flexibility. Reference quality.
I bought 2 of these for my Kia sedan. The sound is insane. They are in just under 1 cubic foot each in a ported alignment. Although it is not a textbook alignment of a sealed design, It behaves more like an aproidic aligment( a ported aligment tuned too low ). This allows a accentuated bass that is not too plump or sloppy. These are among the most accurate subs I have heard in any enviromnment let alone the car. I have these things matched to the JL audio ZR seperates in front, with Avionixx amplifiers supplying the juice. Plenty of it, over 1200watts on tap into 1 ohm. Crossovers are set at 125HZ. By way of a Pioneer FH-P 8000 BT head unit. Modern Jazz takes on a very warm almost liquid feel, Rock and Roll has plenty of slam without being overwelmed. Techno music will give you the illusion of being at a night club in the middle of a dance mix. Hip Hop will pound your face in, if you want it that way. If I was to compare this system to the finer home equipment, think of sound like B&W, B&K, Rotel, NAD, with a warm but very articulate sound. Still discovering what these can do. Definately a must try. Many systems I feel will more than hold their own with only 1, after having listening to 2. Not Cheap, but affordable compared to other options. Unless you intend to compete, I feel there would be no need to jump up to the W7 series.
