Fun Game

The Bottom Line: Greta game for $8.00
I really don't have any games on my computer and am not by any means an expert on computer games. I am however a fan of the television game show, "Jeopardy" so when I saw this game for $7.95 I thought I would check it out. First of all as I said I am not used to looking at game graphics so I was immediately intrigued by the level of graphic sophistication in this game.
For those of you who are not saavy. Jeopardy is a game where you are presented by answers for which you must give the appropriate question. On the tv game this must be preceded by statements like "who is" what is" or "where is." So, for example in the category "Civil War" if you are presentd with the answer, "General who later became President," you might respond "Who is Grant." In this PC version the "who is" satement will already appear on the screen. You must type in "Grant" and hit ENTER to respond.
Prior to typing your question you must signal that you intent to respond. One player alone does this by touching the "space bar" if several player are playing each gets assigned a diffiernet key. For example Player one might have "A", player two "L" and player three "v". The "signal buttons" are spaced around the keyboard to keep fingers from getting tangled and is not as difficult as it may sound.
Jeopardy can be played by one or up to three players. One player can simply give questions to the answers presented or he or she can play against virtual opponents. The first few times I played I just played by myself and it was fun to see how many answers I had the questions for. Later I began playing against virtual opponents which is more challenging and fun. I also have played with some friends and we had a great time testing our knowledge.
The production value of this game is really nice. The host Alex Trebek appears in full motion video and reads the questions (which also appear on the screen). He then responds favorablly or not to your typed replies. There is adequate variety in Alex's responses though he does repeat himself.
One thing I really liked is that the "view" of the screen which displayes the categories changes. Sometimes you view it head on from a distance sometimes closer and sometimes from either the left or right. This makes it look like an actual tv production and makes the game more interesting.
There are 4,200 clues though I had some repeats on the third or fourth time I played. Also the clues appeared in the same order. I wish they could have at least been intermingled with some new clues or mixed up in order to give more variety. This is my only small criticism of a very enjoyable (non-violent)game.
For those who are interested the cd also has back stage interviews with the production staff and a tour of the whole preproduction Jeopardy TV game process. Definitely worth eight bucks.
