Jenny Lind for 2 generations
Date of Review: May 8, 2000
When I was getting ready to have my first child, my mother told me that I wouldn't need to buy much furniture because she still had mine. I went ahead and bought all new because my mother and I don't exactly have the same tastes. I bought the Jenny Lind crib and matching changing table and matching dresser. I figured that I would go ahead and use the cradle that I had used as an infant since it would be in my bedroom and no one would see it.
A couple of months later, my mother brought all of my baby furniture to me. IT WAS THE EXACT SAME AS WHAT I HAD BOUGHT!!! Who would have known that this type of bed had been around for so long??? I love the furniture. The changing table could be built a little better, but you can read about that in another of my epinions.
The Jenny Lind Crib is well built. There is nothing plastic, so you can tell that the wooden and metal bed will last for a long time. The front of the bed is easy to drop down, but a child who wakes up and shakes it violently (as mine does) cannot cause it to fall.
This crib (unlike some others) is on wheels, which makes it easy to move for changing the sheets and rearranging the room. However, there are locks on the wheels, so when you don't want the bed to roll all over the place, you don't have to worry about it.
Recently, I found a piece to change out with the drop side. In a few months, I will change the crib to a toddler bed for a lot cheaper than most crib/toddler beds. HOW WONDERFUL!!!
I love this bed and know that someday, my children's children will have the opportunity to sleep in it as mine had that opportunity. It will still be in good shape.
