Author's Review
I purchased a Jenn-Air downdraft range with a convection oven and all of the attachments (griddle, grill, extra burner surface). I had an electric downdraft range in my prior home, and was quite pleased with it. The newer stove however, is a different story. The burner elements, which are smooth tops, do not heat up fast, and you have to almost have it on high to get any amount of heat. The difference betweed 7 and 8 is almost the entire range of the burner! The stainless steel knobs are completely unreadable. Even with a magnifying glass! I read one review where someone didn't get their stainless steel knobs. I'll trade you for mine. The convection stove is also a lie. It's not really a true convections stove. It does NOT circulate heated air, just the air it pulls from outside. True convection has a third heating element that the fan pulls air through, keeping the temperature even. Which is the whole point of a convection oven. It cost 380 dollars to install it, which in itself was worth it. It would be a major hassle to install it yourself. The only part of the stove I love is the grill top. It sits low, so the downdraft fan works really well. We live where the climate is usually cold or rainy, so being able to grill inside is a treat. One thing about the grill though, is it is very hard to clean. And the grill elements are very cheaply made and break very easily. Since we wanted mainly the downdraft and the grill, those parts work well fortunately. But the rest of the stove is a piece of junk. If you can, buy a cheap oven and install a oven vent. They make good ones you can install with some framing and a little drywall work. Jenn-Air is no longer a quality company, just another rip off selling inferior products.
