Disappointing

This is my 2nd Jenn Air downdraft electric range with
convection oven. And it is the 2nd one to have problems with the electronics. They are estimating the cost to repair at $700! Yikes.

The stove worked okay but was nothing special. I replaced the first range with the same range so as not to have to make renovations to the existing kitchen. I only use the stove in the summer as I'm away in the winter, and in the summer, I usually use the gas grill to cook. So this stove has gotten very little use. It's probably about 5 years old and like new

So what happens is that it says "insert temperature probe" and then after you've hunted around what they might be talking about (I have never used a temperature probe) and inserted it, then it says, "Call service". Service cost $159, and they say it needs a new clock and touch pad and I'm not even sure that will be the end of it. Honestly, this touch pad has barely been touched.

If you need to buy this range, watch out. Get an extended warranty or something.

Also, the convection oven is just so-so. I've had better with more even cooking. The cook top is hard to regulate but that may be a function of this type of cook top. I have not tried enough of them to make a comparison. When I cook on the stove, I have to keep picking up the pan, even when it's on the lowest setting.
