We are baking cookies again!!!

I am very pleased with my new Jenn-Air electric convection range with replaceable cartridges for grilling, using a big pot element, using a wok, or griddle. It is a slide in model with downdraft built in. Our stove is in an island and our choices were limited. In fact, Jenn-Air had the ONLY downdraft slide-in range on the market. I was disappointed at not having any choices and considered just staying with the old Roper stove that we already had. Also, Jenn-Air is very pricey. We've had it for over a month now and I am definitely pleased with this purchase. My last stove came with the house and had the cast-iron eyes that were available for a few years about 15 years ago. They were extremely slow to heat up and once hot were difficult to reduce cooking temperatures. It would take at least 30 minutes for a pot of water to boil for spaghetti! I hated the oven which had a noisy fan that automatically came on and left cookies burned on the bottom and raw on top. I stopped baking cookies all together because I couldn't even smell them while they were baking due to the noisy exhaust fan that sucked the nice aroma out of the kitchen. Also, I like to can summer vegetables and as all the manufacturers tell you, you can't can on ceramic or glass top ranges and I couldn't can on the cast-iron eyes. They simply couldn't get the canner water to the boiling point no matter how many hours the canner sat on the stove.

We are currently updating our kitchen and getting a new range for canning tomatoes was a priority. This stove has a special element just for that purpose and I am so excited to be able to put it to use later this summer. The convection feature works wonderfully! NO MORE BURNED COOKIES and I can smell the delightful aroma too!!! There is a soft sounding exhaust fan when the oven is in use but it is not unpleasant at all and it is necessary for slide- ins with electronic features above the oven door to have this cooling system so the controls aren't overheated. I learned this when researching our range options.

I know some people have made negative comments about Jenn-air ranges mostly because they resent having to pay so much. I can only say that after living with that Roper for 6 years, I was willing to pay any price to have a stove that meets my needs and I couldn't be happier with any stove more than I am with this Jenn-Air!
