Author's Review

If you have ever felt that your parents loved one of your siblings more than you then this is the book for you. This book was written for young teenagers and older. I read it and I loved it. So did my daughter who is 12. This book is a Newberry Honor winner.

The book is about Louise and her twin sister named Caroline. When they were born Caroline was sickly and she got all the attention. She continued to get most of her families attention while Louise seemed to go unnoticed and unappreciated. You see, Caroline was beautiful, vivacious and talented. Louise was ordinary and plain. At least that is how she felt. Louise did not realize that she was the strength and the backbone of the family. Without Louise's hard work Caroline would not be able to pursue her musical talents. Caroline seems to always get the best, she also takes over everything that Louise has. The story comes full circle in the end when Louise realizes that she has more to offer than her sister.

I loved this book because it really can help children realize that outward beauty is not always what counts. Also there are many talents and abilities that are more important and special, even though they may not shine as much.

When life doesn't seem to treat you fairly read this book-it will help you believe in yourself!
