Wow what a Camera

by   i8myyoung ,  Feb 20, 2006
Pros: Best Picture in its class. Audio and other features galore!
Cons: Average battery life. Cheap looking body compared to others.
The Bottom Line: I would say that this camera is an excellent choice for anyone who demands an excellent picture or someone working weddings and events.
Review: MY EXPERIENCE: I am a military videographer and have used a bunch of different small format 3 CCD cameras. This one has got to be the best. I have used the Canon XL-1S, Sony VX-2000, VX1000, and a few others and I know what I am talking about. ...

For the image quality you get, the price is well worth it.

by   alvinping ,  Aug 30, 2003
Pros: Lightweight ergonomic design coupled with amazing image quality
Cons: Power consumption not very efficient, camera body lacks additional external buttons
The Bottom Line: The image quality is well worth the $4000 MSRP, and a steal at under $2500. When compared to all of the aforementioned cameras, this one certainly shines.
Review: When up against similar models, i.e. pro-sumer "large" handhelds, the DV300 is a clear winner. As of ...

Pros: Great Value, Great Picture Quality, Professional Features, Easy to use.
Cons: Looks like consumer camera, slow response with audio level on auto.
The Bottom Line: Great camera for entry-level professionals
Review: This camera is an excellent choice for entry-level professionals or very serious hobbyists. I have used my JVC-GY-DV300 along with my JVC-GY-DV500 to produce a short film and make several video productions. No one can tell when I switch between cameras ...

Much lower price, and excellent picture.

by   cheesegrater ,  Feb 23, 2005
Pros: -Price -xlr inputs with phantom power -superb video
Cons: -awkward second xlr input placement -iris dial lag -non removable lens hood
The Bottom Line: This is an excellent semi-professional video camera for those on a lower budget.
Review: I have had my JVC GY-DV300UZ now for 3 days. My reasons for buying this camera was that it was fairly inexpensive for the features, and had everything that I needed in a camera. The audio quality is very good. 2 selectable and manually adjustable ...

Well Thought Out Design

by   jazzkat11 ,  Oct 24, 2002
Pros: image quality is top-notch. great low-light performance. XLR ins. Great price.
Cons: lack of additional lenses. (jvc has a wide and telephoto adapter, but that's it)
The Bottom Line: It's the best deal in the prosumer market right now. Definitely worth checking out.
Review: First, let's talk about creature comforts. For those of you who are already familiar with the pd150 and the xl1, these will make great sense:

-This unit has both a color lcd and a color viewfinder.

-Volume levels for...

My JVC gy-dv300 camera nightmare!

by   migman ,  May 10, 2003
Pros: Great Picture compared to the XL1s Easy to work with in Pinnacle Studio 8
Cons: Camera ate tape and the power unit will no longer shut off by switch.
The Bottom Line: JVC means failure to me. Both from a professional embarrassment and a monetary loss. AM (Horror Film Director)
Review: BRAND NEW CAMERA! I am a serious DV film maker and i do know alot about miniDV cameras and the JVC gy-dv300 is what you should not invest in or waste your time on. It is junk.

Sure, you get a nice picture, better than Canon's XLS1, but you get...
