Great little camera

Date of Review:  Nov 24, 2000
Review: Earlier this fall my husband and I were planning a vacation throughout the western United States. We had discussed the possibility of purchasing a video camera some time earlier, but had never come to a decision on the camera that would be right for...

Great bang for the buck

Date of Review:  Aug 11, 2000
Review: I have done a lot of research on mid-range digital camcorders getting ready for a vacation this fall. I looked at a number of units and narrowed it down to the Sony TRV720 and JVC GR-DVL805U. I selected the JVC for a number of reasons.

The...

Great video camera with some weak points

Date of Review:  Aug 30, 2001
The Bottom Line: I believe this is a good video camera with some limitations. Price makes it a good choice.
Review: The video quality is excellent, if the right amount of lighting is present. Once it gets cloudy, dark or under artificial lighting things start to deteriorate. I was amazed when I saw the clarity of the videos on my TV of footage filmed under bright...

You can live with it for the moment.

Date of Review:  Jun 5, 2001
The Bottom Line: Unless you can get one very cheap, I would recommend the Sony TRV20 or TRV11...
Review: The JVC DVL805u (now replaced by the DVL915u), was the cheapest DV camera that I was able to get last year... I bought it for less than $700 online (while it was being sold in stores for more than $1000). The only other option back then was Sony...

Good Product Good Price

Date of Review:  Aug 22, 2000
Review: I have been searching for a good digital camera for quite some time and the best product at the best price was the 805u. The camera has a limited still picture capability though. This didn't bother since I already have a good non digital still...

Excellent entry level DV camcorder

Date of Review:  Mar 2, 2001
The Bottom Line: If you are looking for an entry to mid level DV cam, the JVC GR-DVL805 is an excellent choice.
Review: We bought the JVC GR-DVL805 after deciding that with prices dropping so fast on DV camcorders, 8mm was no longer the way to go. We are upgrading to the JVC GR-DVL805 (mini DV) from the Sony TRV57 (8mm) after owning the later just a short 3 months...

Fantastic P. O. S. !!!!!!!

Date of Review:  Mar 17, 2001
The Bottom Line: I would not recommend the JVC DVL805 to anyone with children. Those memories should be recorded with a quality camcorder, from a company that respects its customers.
Review: This is an update to my original review. Unfortunately this "Fantastic Camera" as I once referred to it, has failed. I now refer to it as "JVC's Disposable 3 year Camera". This past christmas morning when I attempted to record my children opening...

Not good for uploading video

Date of Review:  Nov 4, 2000
Review: I originally bought this camcorder for the price and flexibility. However, something neither the store nor JVC will tell you is that you CANNOT use a firewire to transfer video to your computer. The reason- JVC does not make drivers for its own...

Stuff It In Your Pocket!!!

Date of Review:  Nov 11, 2001
The Bottom Line: Produces good quality stills and colorful videos
Review: This camera is the size of a big Palm Pilot. It is a very sophisticated little camcorder. It can produce colorful videos and XGA still photos even though it is a tiny camera. It has allot of the same features that come with large camcorders. The...
