Good buy

My uncle bought me this TV/VCR combo when I moved out to college and into my dorm room. We were thinking of just taking a small TV we had in the house, with no VCR. When we saw this one on sale, we figured this might be a good idea since it is small and doesn't take up that much room. Sale or not, it was definitely a good buy.

My JVC sits on top of my desk, and I still have plenty of room to do my homework. The picture isn't superb, but then again, for the price and size of the TV, the picture quality isn't supposed to be eye boggling. Nonetheless, for this type of TV, the picture is still very crisp and clear. The best thing I like about this TV is it has a jack where I could plug in my headphones. This is perfect if I want to watch some late night TV while my roommate is sleeping or if I'm watching TV while I'm studying and don't want to disturb anyone else. Other added features on the main/action menu include an on/off timer, which I use as my alarm clock every morning, a recording timer, and a V-Chip set.

The VCR part of this combo is, like the TV, very good. The videos I've played on it all look great, and the shows it records similarly look great. The VCR has a nice added feature of double speed fast forwarding. Hit the fast forward button once and it goes at regular speed; hit it again, it fast forwards faster. The only aspect of the VCR that I wish were different is its recording. It records perfectly, but there are times when it would be nice to record on one channel while watching another. Because this is a combo, it will not allow that. However, with just this minor setback, the VCR is still well worth it.
