A juicer to depend on and well worth the money
Date of Review: Apr 24, 2006
The Bottom Line: great price for a high quality dependable juicer
Easy to disassemble & clean. No tools required! Less than 10 minutes for total clean, dry, and re assembly. Very sturdy plastic and metal parts. Most parts are dishwasher safe. Even comes with a cleaning brush for the cutter/filter. No dangerous parts. If you can handle a cheese grater, this is actually safer. Very sturdy base and not easily tipped over.
I haven't found anything yet it can't juice, including bananas. (See tips below) Safe for the family. My 4 & 5 year olds love to help make juice. And because they help, it encourages them to drink something that is actually good for them.
Many people complain about small items to juice or leafy products or dry vegetables. Your going to have to do some (minimal) prep work if you are going to juice, but its worth it.
Prep tips: wash the items then soak in a zip top bag or bowl overnight in cool water. The next day, juice a plenty. The water adds liquid (what you are trying to get) without reducing overall vitamins and minerals. Small items should be stuffed in other larger items, or leafy products could also be bundled. Try wrapping a handful of spinach leaves with some cilantro or basil. Put them in first, then an apple or orange on top, and then turn machine on. (don't forget to soak them. Soaking also makes most fruits and vegetables last longer in the refrigerator.
Most frustrating thing about juicing is the prep work. So just pick a couple days a week (grocery days work good for me) and prep all your fruits, vegetables, leafy products in advance and store in frig. Soak those that need more moister for better results. For leafy products, soak a paper towel, set leaves on top, put in zip top, put in frig. Enjoy, you know your body will :)
Keep your grocery bags (plastic) for putting into the pulp container before juicing. Easier clean up (if you are not going to use the pulp).
