Great juicer for the price.

After recently deciding to add a lot more raw food to my diet, I spent several hours surfing online looking for a perfect juicer that could juice, homogenize, and even handle wheatgrass. I think I found one or two, but they had flaws - one had a spout that looked very low (not high enough to allow a pitcher or even a glass underneath) and one that cost several hundred dollars. I want to get into juicing but want to make sure that I'm personally committed before spending a fortune.

So ... I ended up with the Brevelle Juice Fountain Plus and so far I'm quite pleased, especially for $120 (after a 20% off coupon at Bed Bath & Beyond).

I should start with the negatives, I suppose. The pulp ejection could be better. A lot of the pulp remains up in the top section instead of going into the ejection pitcher. This is a minor complaint, but since I want to compost the pulp, it does mean an extra step of cleaning out the top piece in order to get everything into the pitcher.

It doesn't do a fantastic job on pineapple, leaving rather large chunks.

The froth separater is really cool, but not perfect yet. It makes the first cup or so a breeze but then you have to keep turning the pitcher upright and then pour again to get the rest and separate the froth better.

The positives ...

The pulp from spinach and carrots is pretty darned dry - so dry that I had to add a little carrot juice back when I made a carrot cake from the pulp.

I LOVE the large feed chute, which was why Brevelle won out in the first place. Being able to pop a whole apple in there or a few carrots at a time is a plus.

The biggest plus? That my 13 year old and 9 year old love the juice made of mostly spinach, some apple and pineapple or grapes.
