JBL BassPro - Awesome Bass - Maybe Not...

by   lombana ,   Jul 16, 2003

Pros:  Simple and quick install, just plug it in, can't be easier!

Cons:  Won't rattle the windows and shake your rump!

The Bottom Line:  The jury is still out, when I get the new unit I will add a new review, for now, find something else!

Overall Rating: 2/5 stars

Author's Review

I ordered my unit from SimplyCheap.com, by far the best price on the web at 149 plus shipping. The unit arrived well packed and new as expected.

The unit took less than 1 hour to install and the install is very straight forward. My vehicle is a 2003 Ford Explorer with a Sony 8050 CD / XM head unit. The Sony has subwoofer line out and I had pulled the lines at install so the RCA to RCA was in the rear waiting for me.

The vehicle is also equipped with 12v HOT and 12v switched plus ground at the rear under where the optional 3rd seat would be as I have several Ham and Motorola radios already mounted there.

After connecting power, line level sub and re-setting my head unit to crossover the front and read speakers at 99hz and above and the sub for 125hz and below, I hit the switch and waited for the boom.

I'm sorry to report that the boom wasn't there!

The unit does supply bass but not the earthquake that you would expect. I'm actually having this unit returned and replaced in the event that it's defective, however at this time the jury is still out on the BassPro.
