Destinations - Adventures - Dreams

Amongst my plethora (in this case, 16) of magazine subscriptions, one has tantalized and sometimes infuriated me, for a variety of reasons. "Islands" magazine arrives six times a year, and is always filled with gorgeous pictures of places I would love to go to. Hence the tantalizing and infuriation.

I either don't have the time, the money needed to do it right, or the right companion to accompany me to the Maldives, Fiji, Barbados, etc. But oh, the pictures on those slick pages and, of course, the text that goes with them, is just enough to keep those dreams of future travel flickering.

And since it only comes every other month, and is relatively expensive ($4.95 a copy, cheaper when you subscribe), it always seems to be right on the cusp of dropping off my list-o-pubs. But then along comes an article about Cobh, the departure point from Ireland, from whence my paternal grandparents left 100 years ago to come to America...and my interest soars and my trifling concern with the cost of the magazine is thrust aside.

And did I mention those gorgeous pictures? Pick up a copy somewhere and leaf through it. If you get $4.95 worth of vicarious travel thrills flowing through your body's travel organs, go ahead and splurge...you deserve it.
