Iomega ZipCD: Recommended for anyone

by   fr4ed ,  Dec 3, 2001
Pros: It's great for backups and making music CDs.
Cons: There is no printed manual.
The Bottom Line: Until something better comes along I highly recommend anyone having a rewritable CD drive of some kind.
Review: I bought my Iomega ZipCD External Drive in early 2001 (new on eBay for $171.50), because the disks of the of the Iomega Zip Drive that I was using were about $20 each, only had a capacity of 90-100MB, and often easily became corrupted and unreadable. My...

Io - Mega Pricey, but works well

by   mafras02 ,  Jul 22, 2002
Pros: Iomega is known for making quality products, gets the job done
Cons: A bit pricey, purple is not my favorite color
The Bottom Line: Not too fast of a burner, but it does what it is suppose to. Easy to install and use. Buy it for $150 or less.
Review: The Install Procedure
---------------------
This external CDRW drive was really easy to install. You just pop the included install software in your computer and in a few clicks, it's installed and read to go. It comes with some Iomega Burning...

iomega ZIPCD, good unit

by   marcdobson ,  Dec 3, 2001
Pros: USB and portable
Cons: I can only get 2X speed write with my laptop.
The Bottom Line: It works great for what it is.
Review: I bought this external CDRW drive to use with my Compaq Presario Laptop. Once I figured out that I could only burn a CD at 2X speed with it, it has given me no problems.

I have found out with other USB devices and a USB hub that USB can be...

2x Audio Burner for Mac

by   brsc ,  Feb 25, 2002
Pros: Easy to use, nice bundled software, attractive.
Cons: Burns audio files at only 2x on Macos, loose USB cable, tiny bit pricey
The Bottom Line: Once again Mac users are left out of the technical loop and not told that the burner will only do 2x audio. Useful product but nothing great to brag about.
Review: I bought the Iomega 6X/4X/4X ReWritable USB External Zip Drive as a Christmas present for my wife. It was going to be a clean and easy way for her to compile tons of scanned images of old magazine ads and lots of swing music. For the most part, it's...

Okay when it worked...

by   clarusdogcow ,  May 17, 2003
Pros: Fairly small, cheap, mac compatible, works with Toast.
Cons: Very picky, extremely unreliable, TERRIBLE software.
The Bottom Line: Stay away, get something slightly more expensive instead. It will work for awhile, then just die.
Review: I bought this at a pretty cheap price, and it worked pretty well on my Mac when I finally figured out what type of CDs it likes (Maxell 650s). Then, all of a sudden, one day it stopped working. Whenever I tried to burn a CD or CD-RW, it just said CD...

don't buy it

by   levy22 ,  May 6, 2002
Pros: easy to setup
Cons: not easy to use!
The Bottom Line: IT SUCKS
Review: Now I have been using the drive for more than a year. It is a terrible product: I have wasted many blank CDROMs. Buffer overrun problem is one of the major reasons. To avoid it (and it is not guaranteed!) you have to:
1. not using USB hub for the...

Iomega not recommended.

by   babka ,  Mar 17, 2003
Pros: It works with Mac.
Cons: Unreliable. Expensive (but aren't all Mac peripherals?)
The Bottom Line: Don't buy Iomega if you can help it.
Review: Setup with this was about as easy as any external USB cdrw. The options for Mac users are limited. And Roxy Toast doesn't have the same feature set for Macs as for PCs. Always frustrating.

The software did it's thing fine. I didn't find the...

by   corona4 ,  Sep 28, 2003
Pros: external, didn't have to take apart computer to install.
Cons: slow, errors everywhere, some cd types don't work.
Review: got it two years ago. didn't work from the beginning. i spent a few weeks contacting their tech department through email...in the end they decided that it was the cd's i was using (standard memorex), that messed up the burner. . i got new cd's...and i ...

BEWARE IOMEGA!!!

by   mclemons ,  Jul 19, 2004
Pros: Good product
Cons: Poor customer relations
Review: IOMEGA products have a good reputation, but BEWARE if you purchase directly from the company and return an item for credit. Trying to get a refund is like pulling teeth, and they'll give you a huge runaround while glibly promising to 'investigate' the ...
