Iomega 750 ZIP

I purchased the Iomega 750 ZIP after a previous Iomega Zip 100 drive failed and finally died after 6 years of service.

The 750 Zip that I have is using USB and though compatible with older computers using the older 1.0 USB standard it is USB 2.0 capable.

It will read the old Zip 100 Disks, however it will not write to those so any files you have on the older style disks need to be moved to the higher format disks.

The Zip 750 will read, write, and format Zip 250 disks as well as the 750 Zip disks.

I purchased only (1) one 750 disk and (4) four 250 disks. The 750 capacity disks are rather expensive so unless you need that much storage space do not buy a lot, but instead use a CD R/W burner for large files.

There is a software upgrade that is available from Iomega on their web site to update the package software, however even with the updated software, Windows XP has a problem with the Iomega backup software and the Iomega Zip backup software will hangup but will close out on Windows XP shut down.

For portability, it is light weight and is easy to carry with a laptop case if you have one.
