Destroyed Man by society ills

A story of a young black man struggle to go to college. At first you would think it a story like any other but its not. You see he needs a schlorship before the white men will give it to him, he must endure their torture. We have all face torment and jumping through hoops for others to get what we want. People call it a rite of passage. You decide if the ring where they ridicule him is a rite of passage to you.
After 2 successful years of college, the black President threw him out because of a white man. A white man he was supposed to chaffeur around the town and who didn't bring charges for the bar incident. This lead the boy to New York a group of white men that wanted to save Harlem and needed him as their representative. In the end, he is betrayed and alone, again. Alone in a basement with no money and lightbulbs coonected to wires to make heat to keep him warm. You decide if the cold makes him shiver or the treatment of man that breaks his heart and lower his head.
