Pros: Dynamic- fast paced Film that sends you reeling
Cons: Robin is a little Mis- matched in this flick.
The Bottom Line: I think anyone looking for a cheap thrill should think Insomnia.
Review: Insomnia is a phenomenal film that has just hit my local cinema. The lines are out the door and the butter is oozing on the popped kernels. Please dont miss this one. Insomnia has lured me into the movies.
The director of this flick is the... |

Pros: Several excellent performances, a tight and tense script, the stark setting...
Cons: A bit too deliberate for those who mistake pacing for blather.
The Bottom Line: One of the most satisfying crime thrillers in years. See it. And then give the original a rent. It's only fair.
Review: John Carpenter knew it when directing his 1982 classic The Thing. Filmmakers extraordinaire Joel & Ethan Coen also knew it when they were putting together their phenomenal Fargo. If you're trying to create an insular, sterile and...

Pros: Great cast, great themes in the story
Cons: None!
The Bottom Line: Insomnia just might be one of the few Oscar-worthy movies of the summer.
Review: Insomnia is the highly anticipated suspense thriller from Christopher Nolan, director of Memento. It stars Oscar winners Al Pacino and Hillary Swank as police detectives trying to solve a murder, and Oscar Winner Robin Williams as the murderer who needs...

Pros: The story, the performances, the satisfaction in seeing the film unravel..
Cons: It's hard seeing Al Pacino look so old and tired.
The Bottom Line: Insomnia is a mind-bending psychological thriller which will leave you on the edge of your seat with your eyes wide open!
Review: I went to see Insomnia after reading a few epinion reviews. I was very much looking forward mostly to the All-Star cast. I've not seen Hillary Swank since Boys Don't Cry and I was missing the days of Robin Williams in...

Pros: Acting, story, direction... You name it.
Cons: Ending.
The Bottom Line: Solid and superb.
Review:
Insomnia is not a thriller. Well, it is but not a standard one. Its not the type of thriller that normally gets released every year. For example, you are told who the killer is during the trailer and during the first hour of the... |

Pros: Very well acted, masterfully composed and highly entertaining.
Cons: None. I could have watched four hours of this movie. It's one of my favorites.
The Bottom Line: If you like film at all, this movie's a benchmark for how good film should be made.
Review: "You didn't mean to kill Happ any more than I meant to kill Kaye" says Walter Finch to Detective Dormer. In a movie with unswerving focus, we are introduced to a man who is losing just that. Detective Will Dormer is dealing with guilt. So fierce is ...

Pros: Pacino and Williams are understated, Nolan fulfills his promise
Cons: Although I didn't, some found the ending cheapened the movie
The Bottom Line: If you've seen the original, you may despise Nolan's remake. I haven't, and I didn't.
Review: There's a sequence about half way through "Insomnia", where rumpled L.A. cop Will Dormer chases a man he believes to be the murderer he's come to Alaska to find, across a log drive. It's a thrilling moment, especially when Dormer trips into the water...

Pros: Good cast, technical production
Cons: Supporting cast not used too much
The Bottom Line: A well crafted and cast thriller, that takes a standard story and elevates it into something better.
Review: Insomnia is a movie that probably could have done fairly well anytime that it was released, whether in the dead of winter or in the heat of summer. It's ultimately a movie with big stars and a marketable premise that could still make it the hit that it ...

Pros: Great actors, good script, beautiful filming
Cons: One or two corny or contrived spots
The Bottom Line: This is a really good movie, well-done and with a great cast.
Review: Insomnia is a well-made, well-acted, well-written movie. I suppose the right genre is "thriller." But it's not about making you jump or scream. It's about tension.
Al Pacino plays L.A. Det. Will Dormer. Dormer is well-respected, and he and... |

Pros: Here, Nolan does a fantastic job of directing. Pacino and Williams are equally amazing.
Cons: None that I can think of.
The Bottom Line: Whether you loved the original film or not, everyone needs to check out the 2002 remake by Christopher Nolan (MEMENTO). It's one of the best thrillers of the year!
Review: Anyone who's seen Christopher Nolan's work in independent cinema, knows how talented a filmmaker he is. "Following", Nolan's first full-length feature, was shot in London over a period of one year (finished in 1998) using 16mm black and white film and...
