Product Review

Double Trouble

by   akirkpatrick ,   Mar 6, 2001

Pros:  Can't think of any.

Cons:  Not secure enough to hold newborn's head and too hard to get baby out.

The Bottom Line:  Inadequate support for baby and hard to get baby out. Save yourself some trouble and get the Baby Bjorn.

Overall Rating: 2/5 stars

Author's Review

I received the Double Duty Soft Infant Carrier as a shower gift and was pretty excited about using it. The first time I tried, my baby was about 1 month old. He was in it for about 1 hour and I never could seem to get the straps comfortable, nor was I comfortable with how it supported by baby's back and head. The space between the back board that supports the baby's head and my chest was just too wide for me to feel that my baby's head was not going to go flopping backwards if I wasn't holding on to it. As well, when I tried to get my baby out of it, he was literally stuck. I had to bend over into the trunk of my car and lay my baby down and then slip off the carrier so that I could get him out. I thought I was just inexperienced with using this and tried it several more times. I used blankets to support my baby's head and back and it never did get easier getting my son out of the carrier. Luckily, I received a belated baby gift when my son was about 2 months old -- it was a Baby Bjorn carrier. I can't say enough good things about the Bjorn.
