Author's Review
My 5 1/2 year old niece loves this and can play it on her own. Where was this line of products when I was a kid?
What the game is about
The game is based upon the award-winning I Spy books. They all include big pictures filled with of lots of objects and an I Spy riddle. For example, one riddle is:
"I spy SCHOOL, a clown fish, a clown/ a shy crab that hides, a bag that is brown/ a sea horse, a hammer, a fish with a horn/ a hammer head shark, and a toy unicorn."
Each picture in the game belongs to a theme: Crafts, Nature, Wood Block City, and Chalkboard. There's also Code Breaker, a game where it gives you objects and you find them in the picture, and when you find each object the letter it starts with fills in a blank spot for all of them to create a word together. Oops Hoops is a sorting game. And finally, you can create your own.
The game is like a more educational version of "Where's Waldo".
Inside the box is...
A jewel case containing the CD and a multi-page cover booklet.
The manufacturer recommends this for...
ages 5 to 9, but I'm not convinced. I think those age limitations are too narrow and older kids would enjoy it too. I enjoyed playing it with my niece.
This game can be played solo, or you can play it together.
Playing the game is...
very easy to comprehend. Click on the box you want and your I Spy picture pops up and a child's voice clearly reads the riddle. If you click on a single word, it will just read that single phrase. This is great for kids who are just learning how to read or have limited reading skills. It's difficult to exhaust the games because there are a handful of riddles for each picture and many pictures for each section. There are over 1600 object searches. In addition if you have more than one person who will be playing separately they can set up different accounts, so both people will be able to play each puzzle individually. When you find each object, the words it is in the riddle stay colored so you can keep track of what you've found. When mouse-overing the screen, it doesn't give anything away with a hand curser.
I can't find a thing to complain about except...
I couldn't the game on store shelves.
I'm praising it for its...
educational value, pretty pictures, and how easy they made the game to use.
