Product Review

Doesn't make sense

by   s_trimble ,   Jan 25, 2000

Pros:  Not many

Cons:  Conservative bias

Overall Rating: 1/5 stars

Author's Review

I wonder where it came from that all conservatives think the news media is too liberal? Is it because they cover topics concerning the poor and homeless? The last time I checked, they certainly covered all the big corporate mergers -- that sounds like it should placate the conservative population. Or is it because they do not unilaterally pan all democratic candidates? The news media certainly did a number on Bill Clinton, and the last time I checked, he was a liberal. Or at least a Democrat. In my opinion, conservative publications that claim the media is out to silence them are way off base. It sounds to me like they just want a place where they can belly-ache that the entire country doesn't share their views that the profit motive should rule all.
To be fair, I don't read Insight magazine. But my recently late grandfather, who shared my name and lived at my address for a time, was a one-time contributor to conservative politicians -- and he had a subscription. I read it once, and it's plainly conservative, which is fine by me. Conservatives have a right to their own magazine. But the amount of booga-booga-liberals-are-evil hate mail I receive on my grandfather's behalf is truly sickening.
In my view, conservatives are no better than liberals, and they should stop whining that they're under-represented in the media. It just isn't true.
