The best flight sim, bar none
Pros:
Unparallelled flight realism, graphics, and gameplay.
Cons:
Steep learning curve.
The Bottom Line:
The best flight sim ever made (with exception to it's sequal, Forgotten Battles) Anyone who says CFS3 is better is mistaken.

Author's Review
IL-2 Sturmovik is already widely regarded among the flight sim community as the best flight video game ever made. Its impossible to describe everything about this game.
First of all, it took me several hours to learn how to play the game and get the video and control settings just right. After a few pitiful takeoff attempts (which landed in burning airplanes) I was off the ground and flying over the vast Russian steppe in the biggest conflict in human history, the Russian-German conflict of WWII.
First, the graphics. With the right machine, they are incredible, indescribable. Cumulus clouds look real, and especially beutiful at sunset. The planes themselves are also modeled beautifully. So are the cities. These graphics will immerse you in the game.
Second the sound. Also excellant, especially if you have a good sound system. Although your wingmen talk too much (not in english, btw) they are helpful in pointing out bogeys on your six o clock.
Okay lets talk about the gameplay. This game is made for serious flight sim enthusiasts. Definitely not a pick up and play game, especially if youve never played a flight sim. BUT the flight models are so realistic no other game (ESPECIALLY Combat Flight Simulator 3) comes close to this detail. Everything that applies to real flight applies here (Besides turbulence and a few other minor things).
With the flight models, and the vast Russian terrain (and Berlin map) you will be totally immersed in the environment. There are also many difficulty settings to adjust as well, so if you want you can have an easy to fly (but unrealistic) airplane.
The missions are as difficult as they probably were in real life. choose to be either a ground attack pilot or fighter pilot. Dogfighting is critical in this game, if you dont have wits and gunnery skills, you wont make a kill. This is TRULY a game of skill, although practice always helps.
Also, if you get bored with the single player campaign, you can fly online against real people as well. For many, this is where the replayability comes in.
You can also make your own missions, and fly through mountains, thunderstorms, etc, etc. The list of features almost goes on forever.
So if you have a fast PC, a good joystick, and a little patience, you too can finally join the club and become a virtual pilot. I reccomend this game as strenuously as humanly possible to all gamers with an open mind.
