Very nice car.
Date of Review: Apr 14, 2003
The Bottom Line: Highly recommended. Great warranty. Great dealership. Not to good on the mileage. We love our little Elantra.
UPDATE:(4 Nov 2003) Zero problems with the car so far. Pleasantly surprised by the local dealer when they told me my first oil change/checkup was free. I didn't buy the car at this dealer, so that was cool. My wife drives the car the majority of the time, so I don't have much to report other than it's trouble-free. The little car actually gets noticed and people comment favorably. I guess that's because this particular car is "rare" here on Oahu amongst all the BMW, Mercedes, Jags, and such...ha ha. Hyundai's are starting to get a real following, it seems, as the other Elantra owners we now (recent models) are very happy with their little cars. The warranty still remains the biggest draw, to me.
My GT came with windshield washers. My 14 and 10 year old fit just fine in the back. Initial opinion is very high but I'll let you know when we've driven it for about six months. Leather seats feel just fine. I'm 6-3 and fit perfectly in the car and we have the sun-roof. Keeping in mind it's a $15000 economy car, the power is very respectable. We live on Oahu, Hawaii, and I haven't seen another GT on the island. Looks sort of like a SAAB, and for a Hyundai, it's gets lots of favorable comments. The stereo sound great to me. With our model, no cup holders in the back (I believe the leather seats are the reason) for the kids. Oh well. The arm rests and door panels don't seem quite as solid as our $32,000 Toyota, but it's not bad. We've owned Hondas, Toyotas, and Fords (small cars) and, so far, I'd put this car up against any of 'em...except for the gas mileage. This car hasn't done that good on gas...tops so far is 22 mpg in mixed driving. Ouch. I love the hatch back...lot's of room. Except for the gas mileage...I'd recommend this car to ANYONE.
