Expected more from Hunter

Hunter had long been known for their high quality products, so I was expecting nothing less when I bought this fan for a fairly premium price. Once it arrived, I discovered that although it has the Hunter name, and the Memphis, Tennessee address prominently displayed on the tag on the back of the fan, in *teeny tiny* print it says "Made in China". Which is the kiss of death in a lot of cases, as was my case.

Here are my observations:

Pros:

o Love the satin nickel finish

o Great retro look

o Like the three position slider rather than
push buttons

o Nice, long power cord


Cons:

o Blades won't even *start* to turn on low or medium,
have to put on HIGH then switch down. Although
sometimes even on HIGH I have to reach in with
something and give the blades a push before it will
start. Sometimes SEVERAL pushes.

o If run on HIGH for any length of time, starts making a
really aggravating random intermittent chirping squeal
which gradually gets worse.

o Requires a screwdriver to dismantle grill and blades
for cleaning, very annoying.

I should have returned it while it was still an option. I really expected a fan with the Hunter name to be something I would have for years and be very happy with. Seems I was wrong. Yet another American company with such a great reputation succumbing to go offshore and ruining their products.
