PIECE OF JUNK - motors burn out repeatedly

by   k_e_moeller ,   Jan 2, 2004

Pros:  I like the size and design...

Cons:  .. but the motors start to get noisy and burn out soon.

Overall Rating: 1/5 stars

Author's Review

We purchased two of these 3.5 gallon units three years ago. We use them winter only to combat the dryness in the desert. They lasted one and a half seasons. Motors stalled and burned out. We contacted Hunter and had to wait FIVE MONTHS because this very model was being recalled in its entirety because of a fire hazard.

Finally we recieved the replacements. After less than two months use, one of the replacements failed. We got an entire unit in about three weeks.

Now in the space of two weeks BOTH these relatively new units have failed. I guess I'll call and get them replaced.

I sure wouldn't want stock in Hunter.. you'd think that if they recalled the entire stock for a fire hazard they'd at least make certain the motors were designed to last. We're on our second and third units respectively and are about to receive the third and fourth.

I like the size and design but the motors start to get noisy and burn out soon.
