Pleasant film for casual movie viewers.

I say "pleasant for casual movie viewers" because the other reviews dissect the movie as a scientist would a frog. I'm not into movies in that way, so I'll give you my amateur opinion of Howard's End.

This was a nice film. It was an intriguing story, with several plot twists. It held my interest well, and surprised me a few times. I don't think it's the best movie ever made by Hopkins or Thompson, but I liked it. I always like movies set in older time periods.

I thought that it was a film much like Sense and Sensibility in some ways. It's definitely a movie about relationships and kindred spirits... oddly, Thompson and Hopkins are not, but stay together. Interesting.

Again, I must warn you that I watch movies for pleasure only, not for analyzation, per se.
