"don't look before you laugh/ look ugly in a photograph"

by   Stairway2Drew , top reviewer in Music at Epinions.com ,  Dec 11, 2004
Pros: U2 ARE SOOOOOO GOOD OMG!!!!!11111
Cons: lol j/k
The Bottom Line: Atomic Bomb might not be U2's most technically proficient album, but it's so un-ironic and heartfelt and beautiful that an awkward lyric or two can't knock it down a peg.
Review: I'm assuming that, mere weeks after the release of U2's latest long-player, dropping a traditional, dissecting review of How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb would be fairly pointless. At the time of this writing, twenty folks----at least half of ...

U2's How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb Will Turn Some Heads And Make Some Fans

by   themafiagod ,  Nov 8, 2004
Pros: Bono's voice, the musical quality, the album in general.
Cons: Two tracks are a bit slow, but they have their own little niche.
The Bottom Line: Get this album; it is one of the best to be released in 2004, in my humble opinion.
Review: Let me start this review by saying I was never really a fan of U2. It was only a couple of months ago that I experienced a musical epiphany and began to grow to really love this band. So, when you read this review, please understand I'm not the biggest ...

Classic U2 Returns!

by   duke101 ,  Nov 12, 2004
Pros: A classic U2 album for anyone who's ever liked U2
Cons: I can hardly think of any, perhaps only "Yahweh," the last track
The Bottom Line: An amazing album that proves that even after 24 years, U2 is still the best!
Review: At long last, the greatest band returns with an album they can be proud to call their own. U2 had for over a decade now experienced what many considered a slump. In 1991, when U2 released "Achtung Baby," they were the biggest band in the world, and ...

An Album Filled With Love And Emotion: U2's How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb

by   consumingfiyah ,  Apr 25, 2006
Pros: It's U2. Great music and lyrics are almost guarenteed...
Cons: however One Step Closer can be a little boring.
The Bottom Line: The Bottom Line: It's a great album filled with signature U2 sound, and is a must own for anyone.
Review: Uno, dos, tres, catorce! We've all been there at one point in time. A place where things are blasting around us like a hurricane, where we can hardly stand up against the pressures of life, and where love and peace are so hard to find. U2 likes ...

Up to Scratch in Every Way... Another classic in waiting

by   believableblue ,  Dec 1, 2004
Pros: Most of the songs... most of everything in fact
Cons: Very few
The Bottom Line: An excellent release which lives up to the hype in ALL ways. U2 are as one reviewer commented, "The last remaining superpower in rock"... Very true indeed; a masterpiece
Review: NB...Ok, so This is now my fourth update of this review, having given it yet another week to settle. I gave a review of this a few weeks ago on Amazon in a haze of excitement about how this album was (at least) as good as Achtung Baby (U2's ...

U2 as always, the same but different: Different Sound, Exceptional Quality

by   maverick16 ,  Nov 14, 2004
Pros: U2 has created another new sound, and it borders on being the best yet.
Cons: Some songs take time to grow on you, but is repeat listenings a bad thing?
The Bottom Line: Great CD, a must have.
Review: This is a CD that I have been waiting for with quite a bit of anticipation. I grew up with U2, being only 19 the band has been around longer than I have. My brothers passed down their old tapes to me and I was introduced to possibly one of the biggest ...

An album of heart

by   popsadie ,  Dec 16, 2004
Pros: passion, spirituality, music and lyrics match
Cons: not as innovative as some past work, vocals though often moving are sometimes scratchy
The Bottom Line: This album has passion and maturity. I love the simple but spiritually meaningful lyrics and the passion of Edge's guitar and Bono's vocals.
Review: 9/10 I've done analytic album reviews in the past, but something about this album doesn't seem to work well with this format. If I were to break down and analyze it part by part- it would be a factual but not truthful assessment of the albums worth to ...

Though Your Soul Can't Be Bought, Your Mind Can Wander

by   divad23 , top reviewer in Music at Epinions.com ,  Dec 2, 2004
Pros: Pretty solid up through track 7; good balance of strong rockers and ballads.
Cons: The last four songs are rather blah; the album as a whole is nothing new for U2.
The Bottom Line: Eh, I'm not thrilled with it, but a merely okay U2 album is still better than average by normal standards. 3 1/2 stars.
Review: Unos, dos tres, catorce! Alright, alright, I know. Bono can't count. Let's try to rise above that for a second and talk about the new U2 album in its entirety. I mean, we've waited four years for this thing, so it'd be kind of ...

"Some Things You Shouldn't Get Too Good At...Like Smiling, Crying & Celebrity"

by   speeddemon531 , top reviewer in Music at Epinions.com ,  Nov 24, 2004
Pros: Pretty much what you expect from a U2 album.
Cons: Two songs average enough to bring the album's rating down a point.
The Bottom Line: Hi, best band in the land! Welcome back! Crappy title, great album!
Review: When I feel the need to be moved emotionally, Bono's is one of the first numbers I dial. Despite nearly three decades as the frontman of the best rock band on the planet, this multimillionaire still communicates to his audience like the guy next door. It ...

How many of U2 does it take to dismantle an atomic bomb?

by   flamepillar , top reviewer in Music at Epinions.com ,  Nov 17, 2004
Pros: Strong melodies, Bono's falsetto, The Edge is a God of Guitar.
Cons: Sometimes vague lyrics, minor slump toward the end
The Bottom Line: How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb? Dr. Strangelove says stop worrying and love it.
Review: There are bands out there that you hear about all the time, but you know jack about them. For some people, that band might be Radiohead, for others it might be the Dave Matthews Band. For me, it's U2. The only album I've heard ...
