How many of U2 does it take to dismantle an atomic bomb?

Date of Review:  Nov 17, 2004
The Bottom Line: How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb? Dr. Strangelove says stop worrying and love it.
Review: There are bands out there that you hear about all the time, but you know jack about them. For some people, that band might be Radiohead, for others it might be the Dave Matthews Band. For me, it's U2.

The only album I've heard in its...

Just Screw It! How to Dismantle An Atomic Bomb is the Worst U2 Album Ever.

Date of Review:  Nov 24, 2004
The Bottom Line: In which the author catches an unnerving case of the blahs.
Review: It's the soundtrack for a faceless guy in sunglasses and neon blue spandex surfboarding down some impossible slope. It's the soundtrack for monster truck races at the local redneck pavilion, the soundtrack for men out-testosteroning each other in...

"don't look before you laugh/ look ugly in a photograph"

Date of Review:  Dec 11, 2004
The Bottom Line: Atomic Bomb might not be U2's most technically proficient album, but it's so un-ironic and heartfelt and beautiful that an awkward lyric or two can't knock it down a peg.
Review:
I'm assuming that, mere weeks after the release of U2's latest long-player, dropping a traditional, dissecting review of How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb would be fairly pointless. At the time of this writing, twenty folks----at least half of...

U2 Returns With A Vengeance

Date of Review:  Nov 21, 2004
The Bottom Line: While not The Joshua Tree or even Achtung Baby, How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb is still a great disc and a must own.
Review: Well, my friends, today is a historic day. I am writing my first review on a full length U2 album. Even more amazing is the fact that I'm a huge fan. I own every cd and plenty of singles. If fact, Under A Blood Red Sky was the first cd I ever...

Though Your Soul Can't Be Bought, Your Mind Can Wander

Date of Review:  Dec 2, 2004
The Bottom Line: Eh, I'm not thrilled with it, but a merely okay U2 album is still better than average by normal standards. 3 1/2 stars.
Review: Unos, dos tres, catorce!

Alright, alright, I know. Bono can't count. Let's try to rise above that for a second and talk about the new U2 album in its entirety. I mean, we've waited four years for this thing, so it'd be kind of silly to get...

U2 Dismantles Expectations, Does Their Own Thing on Bomb

Date of Review:  Nov 9, 2004
The Bottom Line: Not the best release of the year, but not far off, U2 has created an extremely solid follow up to All That You Can't Leave Behind.
Review: The question might seem obvious to the casual music observer, the music fan who is less analytical and is only concerned with whether a song makes them want to sing along or not. To the more seasoned music fan though, it was a question that had no...

"Some Things You Shouldn't Get Too Good At...Like Smiling, Crying & Celebrity"

Date of Review:  Nov 24, 2004
The Bottom Line: Hi, best band in the land! Welcome back! Crappy title, great album!
Review: When I feel the need to be moved emotionally, Bono's is one of the first numbers I dial. Despite nearly three decades as the frontman of the best rock band on the planet, this multimillionaire still communicates to his audience like the guy next...

U2's How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb Will Turn Some Heads And Make Some Fans

Date of Review:  Nov 8, 2004
The Bottom Line: Get this album; it is one of the best to be released in 2004, in my humble opinion.
Review: Let me start this review by saying I was never really a fan of U2. It was only a couple of months ago that I experienced a musical epiphany and began to grow to really love this band. So, when you read this review, please understand I'm not the...

U2 Will be mystified - One way or another

Date of Review:  Nov 29, 2004
The Bottom Line: Melodic and diverse tracks with a flair. Not U2's best but worthy of ownership. Some great work and some flat work on this project.
Review: Being a product of the 1960s, I grew up in an era (late 60s - early 1980s) rich in Rock & Roll that meant something and had a backbone. Most (not all) of today's Rock & Roll is void of substance and seems a bit generic.

That's not the case...

Learning To Love The Bomb

Date of Review:  Dec 2, 2004
The Bottom Line: That difficult 11th album. Mostly excellent, but not perfect and it won't appeal to everyone
Review: They're back to save the world. And a grim place it has become, too. Illegal wars rage in the Middle East, a Bible-thumping cowboy is once again the leader of the western world, famine and disease sweep through Africa like an Old Testament plague,...
