Well, I got a copy of the album the first week it came out, and I since Im kinda of slow with u2 songs, I started liking it like a month later. Same thing happened with "all you can leave behind". The album is nicely done and as the band's classical style, its rock for all ages. My dad (50)is a big fan of them, and really liked the album. I feel that its just another big hit for the irish band. Its like they followed the same formula for making music since "achtung baby", except for "POP"(96), where it was released during major changes in the musical industry. Even tough, I consider U2 pretty innovative cause back then there was like a big dispute for rock bands to make electronic-type music. Big heave rockers hate it, and It was like nobody was sure if electronic music was going to stay.
Since then, lots of rock bands have mixed electronic beats on their tracks. Well, U2 was one of the first.
Going back to the album, I feel that "how to dissasemble an atomic bomb" is the best and most original album of 2004 in the rock genre, of course. Just think of it, most of the bands released 'remixed','best of','greatest hits','tributes','covers', etc... It was like nobody was making new music. 2004 was a very slow year for music (remember that mtv crap doesnt count cause its not music)
