U2's How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb: I Am Overcome

by   shilmafone , top reviewer in Music at Epinions.com ,  Dec 6, 2004
Pros: Every song could be a single. Every song grabs you. It all just works.
Cons: Those who enjoy U2's experimental tangents might be a bit let down
The Bottom Line: Only U2 could have recorded this album. That, in a nutshell, is why I love them.
Review: Take Two * * * I've been trying to write this review for way too long. I even had one posted for the album last week, but upon rereading it, I declared it the worst album review I'd ever written and promptly took it down. Here's the ...

Peace, Love and U2

by   Presleysmama ,  Jan 7, 2005
Pros: All the songs a good listening
Cons: It takes a few times of listening to get under your skin.
The Bottom Line: If you are a fan, you must have this one, it is a new side of the band, but has a lot of old touches as well.
Review: First let me open by saying that I am delving into unknown and uncomfortable territory. Writing a review in music is not my strong point. Or maybe just writing any review for that matter! :o) I bought this latest CD from the band as a ...

I'm at a Place Called Vertigo, don't Bring Me Back.

by   BaronSamedi3 ,  Jan 23, 2005
Pros: U2 has finally come home
Cons: I'm going to temporarily forget this category exists
The Bottom Line: I've been blessed - I've never given a CD less than five stars. I pick good music!
Review: Listen. Just listen. Just for one go-round, listen. I promise it won’t take long - How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb clocks in just under 50 minutes. I request this of you because you’re probably thinking the same thing I was: U2 had run their ...

A Masterpiece (if you give it the time it deserves)

by   believableblue ,  Dec 22, 2004
Pros: Pretty much everything, and I don't say that lightly.
Cons: The time it takes to get into will have some walk away from a classic
The Bottom Line: This is a truly stunning album, one that grows with each listen into a fully formed masterpiece... they were right when they said it was their best work...
Review: I gave a review of this a few weeks ago on Amazon in a haze of excitement about how this album was (at least) as good as Achtung Baby (U2's masterpiece in my opinion). After having swayed back and forth in my opinions, the album has finally sunk in. So ...

An Excellent CD/DVD Combination

by   wildhoney01 ,  Nov 24, 2004
Pros: The songs are uplifting and beautiful, interesting info & performances on the DVD.
Cons: Lyrics seem preachy at times, cheesy at others, and the 'Vertigo' video is dull.
The Bottom Line: I recommend downloading a couple of the tracks from the Internet (legally,) just to give you a taste of what the album is like. Then buy it.
Review: I can say with quite alot of confidence that this is an album you'll either love or hate. There's no in between with this album. If you're a die-hard U2 fan, chances are you won't be disappointed with 'How to Dismantle An Atomic Bomb'. The reason I say ...

"I'm not giving up on a miracle drug."

by   hawaiianstud ,  Jan 24, 2006
Pros: However I'm feeling, listening to U2 always does the magic for me.
Cons: Some of their earlier Cd's, I would only buy for a couple songs.
The Bottom Line: I highly recommend buying this CD. Everyone who appreciates true legends, should have a copy of this album in their homes. You'll listen to it over and over again.
Review: As I was watching one of U2's newest concerts on video, Bono started to give a little speech on one of their newest songs called "Miracle Drug." And this little speech made me admire this group even more then I always have. He started listing some of the ...

Classic U2, fans wont be disappointed

by   vertigox ,  Jan 29, 2005
Pros: nice guitar and lyrics, sticky tunes
Cons: no innovations for this one
The Bottom Line: Excellent album, you wont regret it. BUY IT!
Review: Well, I got a copy of the album the first week it came out, and I since Im kinda of slow with u2 songs, I started liking it like a month later. Same thing happened with "all you can leave behind". The album is nicely done and as the band's classical ...

how to dismantle the foundation of my house!

by   njchicaa ,  Feb 23, 2006
Pros: powerful and beautiful songs
Cons: politics and whining mixed in throughout
The Bottom Line: Powerful, emotional CD from the world's greatest rock band.
Review: In the grand scheme of U2 fans, I am a relative newbie only really noticing the band with their Achtung Baby album back in high school. It's not my fault that I was too young to appreciate their early albums at the time. Anyway, this is my 1st ...

HTDAAB--U2 Returns to The Formula That Works

by   mrclc ,  Dec 6, 2004
Pros: Vertigo, Miracle Drug, City of Blinding Lights, All Because of You, Yahweh
Cons: One Step Closer, Original of the Species
The Bottom Line: Buy it. It's quite good, and you'll find it meets or exceeds your expectations.
Review: Okay, so some may argue that the new U2 is "uninspired, rehashed garbage", but any true U2 fan knows that isn't how it is. Although not anywhere near as experimental as Zooropa or Pop, and not as bland as All That You Can't Leave Behind, this album finds ...

U2 most certainly did not drop a bomb...

by   hitthis12 ,  Aug 30, 2005
Pros: Bono sounding like Bono...
Cons: Lack of experimentation, maybe
The Bottom Line: I highly recommend this disc for everybody. Casual fans and us die-hards. Get it and enjoy.
Review: A funny thing happens with almost all U2 albums that I listen to. Only a few songs jump at me, slap me in the face and say "listen to this". Usually I listen to the album waiting for something to happen, and after a few spins it seems as if the songs, ...
