Inaccessible Inspiration.

In common with many other interior/ home decor magazines, House beautiful spouts forth brilliantly inspirational images of fabulous homes and gardens, (theres another one!)
Another similarity is the unattainable quality of many of these homes, in the latest issue the cover features a handmade needle pointed, floral floor covering which had been been based on a commissioned artists rendering of original flower drawings. It doesn't enlighten us as to the cost of such a carpet, but it takes little imagination to realize it's out of my price range, (and most other peoples too!!)
However that's not the point of this, or any of the other home decor magazines. In the same way that we look at the stars elaborate dresses at the Oscars or in fashion magazines and don't necessarily have to buy Armani or Versace to get the look, here the idea is to inspire.
Colour combinations, floral motifs or Chinese elements, we can take fragments of ideas and apply that to our own space within our own possibilities and budgets.
