Indispensable Baby Product!
Date of Review: Apr 16, 2007
The Bottom Line: I highly recommend the Hotslings sling because of its comfort for both mom and baby, its attractiveness and price.
The Hotslings sling is truly my favorite baby item. My daughter had colic and "wearing" her was the only thing that got me through 8 weeks of fussing and crying. As long as she was in the sling, she was content. My daughter is now 7 months old and still loves to ride in the sling. We walk our dogs daily with her in the sling, run errands and even do household chores while I "wear" her. She loves being "up high" and able to observe and interact with those around her. She has enjoyed this from the very beginning. There is a lot of information that baby wearing is beneficial for bonding between parents and baby and developing the baby's sense of security and trust.
The sling is very comfortable. I have had no issues with back or shoulder pain. My daughter has been comfortable in the various positions. The only issue I had with the sling is I could never figure out how to nurse her while she was in the sling. I think it was probably just me and my lack of coordination, but I found it difficult.
I have the Quinn striped sling- I love the pattern and found it goes well with most of my outfits as well as my daughters.
It is easy to use and easy to care for. I have washed mine frequently without any fading. It is well crafted and very sturdy. It folds up nicely and fits in the diaper bag.
I tried the Bjorn carrier and found it to be extremely uncomfortable. My shoulders ached the entire time I was carrying her and she didn't seem as happy. Plus, it was very cumbersome and complicated.
I recommend the Hotslings sling to all my pregnant friends, and today am purchasing a second one (the solarveil mesh one).
