Author's Review
The Eagles' amazing transitional album Hotel California literally took me by surprise. I am 20 years old and of course I had heard the song Hotel California before, but after owning the Eagles Greatest Hits 1971-1975, I bought the Hotel California CD and it just blew my mind.
I hadn't realized how great this album could be and how much more it was than just the title track. Every single track is amazing: awesome, heartfelt vocals from Don Henley, Joe Walsh, and others, amazing guitar ranging from the twelve string in Hotel California to solos in Life in the Fast Lane, Victim of Love and Try and Love Again, and as always, great harmonies and backup singing.
This album has become one of my top ten favorite albums of all time. I could never be without it now, it is absolutely essential. My favorite track on the album is definitely Try and Love Again because it transcends the test of time and it can apply to anyone. It is universal in its hip rocking guitar sound and its lyrics.
Being 20 years old, I think I am proof that this album can be loved by young and old alike. It is an essential piece of music that should be at least heard once through by everyone. This album has made the Eagles one of my favorite bands, also.
